Possible Large Scale Ironman Piece From Sideshow At SDCC 2009?

April 13, 2009

Spotted on the internet, an excerpt of a Q&A session from Sideshow Collectibles:

Q: Any chance of a 1:1 scale Iron Man statue based on the movie (like the one Sideshow displayed at the San Diego Comic-Con last year)? I know there is a great deal of interest on the boards for this piece!

A: We do have an exciting large-scale Iron Man product in development, which we plan to unveil at SDCC. It is not a 1:1 scale piece, but we think you’ll be impressed.

After hearing about this piece of juicy news, iWantThatToy cracked some heads and this is what we found:

making-of-the-ironman

Yummy.

Could this possibly be the large scale piece that Sideshow is talking about?

So we cracked a few more heads and came up with even more pictures!

Gawd Dayum!!!

It’s certainly going to be an expensive year for collectors. These are about the best statues I’ve seen this year.

SDCC will be interesting indeed!

World of Warcraft Clay Figurines!

April 4, 2009

The release of Wrath of the Lich King (WoW) really made me miss playing the game. I played WoW for about two years before I decided to retire. It was a fantastic ride and I retired at what I felt was the peak of my game at the time.

I was healing class leader of a guild that was, at its time rated at top 10-15 on the server in terms of content progression.

Here’s a screen of me back then:

We’d cleared Karazhan, Gruul’s Lair as well as Magtheridon. We were just about to start on Tier 5 content when the guild fell apart and most of the core players left for other servers. I’d achieved 4/5 Tier 4 gear and most of the dps gear from Karazhan at that time. Reading online progression and developments on the game sites really makes me reminisce everyday. I marvel at how much WoW has changed since I’ve left it.

So imagine my joy when I spotted these on the internet:

Draenei Priest in Tier 6 armour:

Undead Mount:

The ever loveable Voidwalker:

Cool looking Blood Elf in Tier 5 armour:

And a Loladin in Tier 2:

Sigh. This really brings back a lot of memories.

From a collector’s point of view, these are beautifully hand made. Such exceptional detail and colours!

For those of you want some of these, iWantThatToy certainly has a surprise in store for you. Get ready your wallets and check back here soon.

Diablo III Overthrown Statue

March 31, 2009

For those hardcore gamers out there, check out this cool prototype of an upcoming statue that was featured at the San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) 2008:

diablo-1-3

The third piece in a collaboration between Sideshow and Blizzard, this piece looks set to bring to life the Barbarian in all his raw fury standing atop the beheaded Diablo, victorious.

The exclusive piece comes with an interchangeable helmed head like so:

diablo-1-2

Taken from the Sideshow website:

The Barbarian Statue depicts the warrior class in fine form, wielding dual-axes in the heat of battle. Each piece is hand-cast in high quality polystone, individually finished and hand-painted to exacting standards, complete with individually assigned edition numbers on the bottom side of the base.

But hey, don’t believe everything you see on their website. Check out pictures taken of the actual prototype piece at SDCC 2008!

And for the exclusive collector, the interchangeable head:

The detail on this prototype is simply breathtaking! The next thing to look forward to on this piece is the paint up. If the final paint is anything as good as their previous Blizzard releases, I’m guessing this will be one of my grail statues!

The exclusive is still available on their website, and the edition size and ship date has yet to be announced. If you’re a Diablo fan like me, this will be the definitive Diablo collectible to own! I’m secretly hoping the painted prototype will be sneaked during the upcoming SDCC 2009. Anyone want to sponsor a trip there so I can do some detective work? *hint*

I’ve already pre-ordered mine, have you?  😛
